110 x 90 x 4 cm

Acrylic and spray paint on canvas.
The work explores the ideas of being between states. There are more obvious boundaries, such as dreaming and being awake, shown through both the colours and a sense that this space is more than real. But this is also amplified by the fact one of the boys is asleep and one is awake. Moreover, as we look at the image, we note the sense of floating and drifting which is also associated with that dreamlike state. The process of developing the work is equally important and revolves around negative spaces. The objects depicted within the work are not actually there, but are ghosts left as the space around them is created.
