This is part of the Passage series: A microphone pointed towards nature. As if we might somehow hear what it is saying. The colours feel fantastical — pinks, blues and greens moving into one another — and the whole painting seems to be vibrating. It feels less like looking at nature than listening to it, as though the colour itself has become a kind of sound.

I think of John Cage and his idea of listening to what is already there. Not trying to impose music on the world, but allowing the world to make itself heard. And there is something of Tarkovsky here too. His films often make nature feel mysterious and alive, as though the landscape is holding something that cannot quite be explained.

I suppose I am trying to capture something of that here — an experiment with what it might look like if nature had a voice, if its energy could somehow become visible. I'm not sure it can. But perhaps that is the point. Everything seems to be resonating.
