Tropic of Cancer is a limited edition of five prints that evoke the sensory intensity of my travels in Cuba, which intersects the 23.5° north — where the heat, light, and saturated colour blur the boundaries between the natural and the constructed. The architecture seemed to breathe; walls sweated and colours bled into one another, as though humidity itself were painting the world. These works capture that sense of a living environment — unstable, luminous, and continually reshaping itself.

Each image explores how perception breaks down under intensity. Layers of colour and optical contrasts create vibrating surfaces that seem to hover and shift as the eye moves. These effects transform the images into an experience that is both physical and psychological, where brightness becomes weight and shadow breathes like heat.

The work draws on memory not as recollection but as atmosphere — a condition of being suspended between moments, between what was and what might still be. In this state, architecture, nature, and the self merge into a single, unstable field of vision and a static image feels alive with movement.

In these prints, colour operates as a physical force — radiant, humid, and disorienting. It becomes a temperature, an atmosphere, a way of seeing that transforms the familiar into something otherworldly. The tropics emerge not as a fixed location, but as a psychological and emotional state: a place where the intensity of perception mirrors the instability of being, and where everything — light, matter, and memory — appears to shimmer in flux.
